----- COMMENT: AUTHOR:Blogger Franchise835 DATE:2/17/2010 02:32:00 PM Pujols will be third guaranteed, Carpenter out of respect if healthy will be opening day starter...also i would more than expect Rasmus batting 2nd not 8th..you won't see Colby 8th or 9th really ever....if LaRussa goes back to lineup w/ pitcher 8th you will see Ryan 9th or vise versa based on lefty/right matchup with Schumaker/Julio Lugo ----- COMMENT: AUTHOR:Blogger erich job DATE:2/17/2010 05:41:00 PM I appreciate your input, but if you look at Rasmus's hitting numbers, compared to Ryan's numbers,Ryan's numbers are way better. I understand that Rasmus was a rookie, and he had the injury bug,but I don't see him hitting at the top of the order this year. Will he in 2011? Probably yes. I also forgot that Larussa puts pitchers in the 8 spot. ----- COMMENT: AUTHOR:Blogger Franchise835 DATE:2/19/2010 03:22:00 PM LaRussa likes a guy with good OBP in the 9 spot to act as a second leadoff man....much of the time last year Ryan was batting 9th, with Rasmus in the 2/7/6 hole. Why do you have Holliday 3rd??! that never happened at all Pujols hasnt batted anywhere outside of the 3 hole im pretty sure in 7 to 8 years now, outside of pinch hitting. More than likely you'll see Yadi as a 6 or 7, LaRussa loves his ability to hit the ball to opposite field. He even started in the cleanup hole at least 4 times last year.

I think a much more accurate lineup is

against Righties

1. Schumaker
2. Rasmus
3. Pujols
4. Holliday
5. Ludwick
6. Molina
7. Freese
8. Pitcher
9. Ryan/Lugo

against lefties
1. Lugo
2. Ryan
3. Pujols
4. Holliday
5. Ludwick
6. Rasmus
7. Molina
8. Freese
9. Pitcher

you will see a lot of different lineups cuz LaRussa likes switching up the lefties and righties so Rasmus may be in the 5 or 2 hole a lot. He always has said that no matter what the strength of the starting pitcher he likes to give them different looks so they dont get comfortable seeing 3 or 4 righties in a row ----- --------
