AUTHOR: MrBaseball09 TITLE: Why Pitchers Can't Stand Braun DATE: 12:26:00 PM ----- BODY:
A recent poll in ESPN The Magazine surveyed over 300 National League pitchers on which players they hate to face the most. And as you probably guessed, Albert Pujols came out on top of the list. But what you probably wouldn't have guessed is that Ryan Braun was a very close second. The reason for this? If your thinking it's because of his incredible success against National League pitchers, your wrong. Although, I'm sure that played a part in his high ranking. But the real reason Braun was ranked so high is because he is quickly making an impression on the rest of the league that he is a cocky, arrogant, young player who needs to take his ego down a notch. In a recent interview with Ryan Braun, the reporter asked Braun what the secret to his success was and he responded by saying, "It is pretty effortless, to me less is more. The less effort that i put in, the easier things seem to happen" "I really believe that I'll make a hit every time (I come to the plate)" "I think Ive admired my home runs too long, but I wouldn't have anything to admire if I wasn't having so much success." Ryan Braun when asked how he felt about being intentionally hit so many times throughout the 2009 season "I take those things as a compliment. It's not something that's going to effect the way that I play the game." Those are the kind of statements that drive opposing pitchers crazy. As much as I love Braun, he really needs to step his ego down a notch or we could have another Gary Sheffield on are hands.
