Thoughts:
My overall synopsis of April is that it is a relatively easy start to the season. The Crew will have a few tough games along the road, but overall they should be able to breeze through the month without too much trouble. I say this because they will be taking on teams such as the Pirates (who they have consistently dominated over the last few years), San Diego, and Washington. Who are arguably three of the worst teams in the league.
The Crew opens up the month and year with a six game home stand in which they will face the Colorado Rockies, and the St. Louis Cardinals. Now, the Rockies have proven to be a decent club over the last few years, however, with Marquis gone their rotation remains a major issue.
What happens when you put poor pitching up against good hitting? You get burned.
Key Series:
St Louis @ Milwaukee (April 9th-11th):
St Louis. always manages to field a tough club. And this year they did just that.
This will be a huge series for the Crew who is looking for a chance at winning the division. Although it is unlikely, If anyone is going to beat out the Cardinals for the division title, it's going to be Milwaukee.
It should be interesting to see how these two clubs fair against each other this year as in 2009 they split the season series at 9-9. Aside from Cinncinati, the Brewers were the only team in the division that put together a .500 record against them.
Projected Record: 14-7
